Juan Fernando Marquez HSSE Technichian at Total E&P Bolivie

As soon as he entered Total, Juan Fernando Marquez spent 15 months in southern Argentina being trained to operate the Incahuasi gas plant.

IFP Operator´s certification

On 2014, he traveled to Neuquen together with other 19 Bolivian junior engineers recruited to receive an operator´s certification set up by Total E&P Bolivie in collaboration with Total Austral and the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP).

The key to success: being a team

Back in Santa Cruz, after getting his operator diploma and ready to operate the plant, Juan Fernando shared with us his impressions on the experience.
“The key to success was learning that we were a team and that we all had the same goal; this helped all of us to achieve the certification" he explains, referring to the fact that not only 100% of the candidates passed the certification, they all got grades above average.

Not just colleagues but friends

For Juan Fernando the certification program was "excellent, rewarding in every way. Since it started, the program has changed everything in my life, and I could appreciate the company’s vision and its efforts for a safe and secure workplace. By taking care of ourselves, we take care of everyone – safety for me, for you, for all." With this motto in mind, Juan Fernando highlighted the strong bond built within the group. Now they are not just colleagues but friends.
